WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL DOING IN CURRICULUM DESIGN?

Schools around New Zealand are exploring ways to redesign curriculum. This wiki provides a place for you to post your contact details and a brief outline of the work you are doing.

We hope this will enable you to make connections with others (either nearby or at a distance) to extend your professional conversations and share ideas.

We have been working on our own key competencies for the last four years and now use these - dream maker, team player, communicator and thinker. This year they are becoming much more embedded in school practice and are being refined as part of our school based curriculum. We have been planning and assessing based on these big ideas.

Issues we'd like to explore: What are other people doing in terms of assessing their key competencies so that the results are meaningful and move beyond our current paradigm of assessment?

In the Thinking area we have benchmarked the range of cognitive strategies we want to teach at each level. Now we would like to go further and what strategies might look like at different levels in different subjects.
